Aus 12 Landkreisen der Polizeidirektionen Lüneburg und Oldenburg reisten die 66 Wettbewerbsgruppen zu dem Regionalentscheid nach Dannenberg an. Viele Gruppen nutzten die Möglichkeit bereits am Vortag anzureisen und ihre Zelte im Dannenberger Stadtbad aufzuschlagen. Bereits im Morgengrauen begannen die Wettbewerbe bei denen die Aufgabe darin bestand, einen Löschangriff mit Menschenrettung vor den Augen der 100 Wettbewerbsrichter und zahlreichen Zuschauern durchzuführen.
